Eligibility Requirements

Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen and a resident of the State of Michigan. Applicant must be of Polish Ancestry and/or a connection to the Polish Community. Applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours per semester in college or university in pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Master degree, or a matriculated High School senior who will graduate in the year the application is submitted. Applicant may apply for only one of the scholarships( Mitchell Fine Arts or Frank Filipek).

About the Institution

Friends of Polish Art (FPA) is a nonprofit organization committed to preserving, promoting, and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Poland within the United States. Founded in Detroit in 1937, FPA fosters an appreciation for Polish art, literature, music, and history through exhibitions, lectures, performances, and cultural events. The organization supports educational initiatives and scholarships to encourage the study and creation of Polish-inspired arts. By fostering cross-cultural dialogue and showcasing Poland’s artistic contributions, Friends of Polish Art continues to strengthen cultural ties and promote a deeper understanding of Polish heritage in the broader community.
